A man from Virginia won the jackpot prize of a million dollars after winning small amounts in two consecutive lottery tickets prior to the big win.
The suddenly wealthy man, Richard Rookwood told officials from Virginia Lottery that he decided to buy the scratch-off ticket that scored him the neat $1 million jackpot at a Speedway station in Chesapeake after his previous two wins left him feeling lucky.
True enough, Rookwood’s dreams became real when he scratched off the top prize. Rookwood, who chose to receive the jackpot in a lump sum, is taking home $657,030 before taxes.
The family man has told Virginia Lottery officials that his winnings will go towards paying off his son’s University loans, with lots more to spare for college funds for his other children.
