Decomposed bodies of 11 babies found in ceiling of condemned funeral home

Thanks to an anonymous tip-off, police in Detroit were able to find the decomposed bodies of 11 babies in the ceiling of a condemned funeral home. According to The Mirror, the police were tipped off by an anonymous letter writer who revealed where the bodies were hidden at Cantrell Funeral Home.

The police found the remains of nine of the 11 infants stored in a cardboard box along with a small casket that was placed in a compartment in the funeral home’s roof. Sniffer dogs were deployed to discover if there were additional bodies but no other remains were uncovered.

According to the authorities, all of the remains were of infants and stillborn babies. Some of the babies have reportedly been identified.

Cantrell Funeral Home was closed forcibly this past April due to deplorable conditions. The area was being renovated to become a community centre when police discovered the remains of the 11 babies.

Detroit Police Detective Brian Bowser asserted, “We have to find out what happened and why it happened.” Investigations are ongoing.
